Our Story
Our story begins in 1982 with our president and founder, the ambitious young father Marwan Sholakh, and an idea. As an engineer at a large polyethylene manufacturer, his role made him stray away from the most fulfilling part of his job; his customers. He sought to create his own company where he can focus on what mattered most. After careful consideration, he decided to take the leap of faith and start his own company, Nexus Plastics, Inc.
With his engineering expertise and industry connections, he assembled our first extruders and a team of close-knit experts to help run the operation. The team grew from the small manufacturing operation they were into a global packaging provider by investing in their customers’ success and growth. We plan to continue this growth into the future, all while staying family-owned under the Nexus name.

We integrate sustainability in every aspect of our operation. Our expert research and development team works to tests new and innovative ways to reduce raw material usage while increasing efficiency and product quality. Our continually evolving custom manufacturing process is equipped with special equipment to reduce our raw material waste and scrap throughout the process. Our coextruded structures allow us to create products with a more complex profile of properties while using less material. This process succeeds in both raw material input and cost savings for our customers.
Our plant and office are equipped with energy-efficient lightbulbs and technology that help reduce our carbon footprint.
We recycle all of our waste material from our plant and office for reuse with our recycling partners’ help.

Meet Our Family
Marwan Sholakh
President/Founder
Marwan’s involvement in the flexible packaging industry dates back to 1969. During his early years in the industry, he acquired a sophisticated understanding of manufacturing. This expertise gave him the knowledge-base and skill-set to establish his own company, Nexus Plastics, Inc.
In founding Nexus in 1982, Marwan defined our core principles of product quality and customer-centered business. Since then, he has devoted himself to upholding these practices through both himself and his employees’ hard work. His dedication to our customers, employees, and community and his exemplary leadership has allowed us to grow into the company we are today.
Tamer Sholakh
Vice President
In growing up in the flexible packaging industry, Tamer was able to acquire experience in our business at a young age. Through hard work in numerous roles within our company and devotion to our company mission, he earned the Vice President position. In this role, he continues to uphold our mission by ensuring product quality and maintaining strong customer relationships.
Kari Sholakh
Human Resources Manager
Kari has been committed to the polyethylene business for over 40 years. She is instrumental in keeping one of our most essential resources, our employees. She has maintained a low employee turnover rate throughout the years, providing a reliable and knowledgeable workforce that can best serve our customers.
